UVA’s Division of Hematology and Oncology, under the leadership of Michael E. Williams, MD, ScM, has continued its unprecedented expansion in faculty, clinical programs and academic productivity during FY 2015. The division’s focus is to provide the very best care for those with cancer and blood diseases at UVA Medical Center, the Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center, and at the four community cancer care sites in Fishersville, Culpeper, Farmville and at the Charlottesville Pantops office.

Clinical excellence is supported by the division’s multidisciplinary, disease-specific teams and tumor boards, by evidence-based treatment, and by an expanding portfolio of clinical trials. We are in a remarkable era of novel targeted anticancer agents and immuno-therapeutics, as well as new anticoagulation and recombinant factors that are fundamentally changing therapeutic approaches and leading to improved patient outcomes and survival. The division’s research programs are contributing importantly to these advances.
