The faculty of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine are nationally recognized for excellence in clinical care, research and teaching. Physicians in this division provide expert, comprehensive care for all forms of cardiovascular disease through the Heart and Vascular Center, which serves more than 5,000 patients at UVA Hospital and an additional 43,000 in outpatient clinics each year.

The division’s clinical faculty practice in a wide range of disciplines, including general cardiovascular disease and prevention, cardiac imaging, electrophysiology, diagnostic and interventional cardiac catherization, valvular heart disease, peripheral vascular disease, heart failure, congenital heart disease, and vascular-related diseases. Its research faculty and professional research staff excel in patient-focused research, with over 100 active grants and total funding of approximately $16 million.

The division’s multidisciplinary, collaborative approach to patient care brings together specialists from cardiovascular medicine, pediatric cardiology, congenital cardiac surgery, thoracic and vascular surgery, and interventional radiology to optimize care for each individual patient.
