Faculty Highlights: Nephrology
Senior Faculty:
Emaad M. Abdel-Rahman, MD, PhD, joined UVA’s Division of Nephrology in 1996, and is one of its most consistently productive faculty members. Currently head of the Geriatric Nephrology section, Dr. Abdel-Rahman’s led the nephrology service at UVA’s Augusta Medical Center for five years, during which time it experienced a surge in the number of inpatient consults as well as in outpatient clinic visits. Dr. Adel-Rahman has an active research program focused on dialysis in the elderly.
New Faculty:
Amandeep Bajwa received her PhD from Virginia Commonwealth University and completed her postdoctoral training at UVA. Her research focuses on sphingolipids in kidney transplantation. She is the recipient of a 5-year NIH faculty development grant.
Gilbert (Bert) Kinsey, PharmD, PhD, received both his advanced degrees from the Medical University of South Carolina; he completed his postdoctoral training at UVA, with a focus on regulatory T cells in acute kidney injury.
