RESEARCH: Hematology & Oncology
Highlight: Clinical Trials and Other Studies
Division faculty conduct basic, translational, and clinical research in partnership with colleagues at the UVA Cancer Center, which provides access to a remarkable breadth of resources and depth of multidisciplinary expertise. Areas of clinical investigation include solid tumor oncology; hematopoietic stem cell transplant; hemostasis and thrombosis; malignant hematology; and Phase I and Phase II clinical trials of new treatment approaches, including monoclonal antibodies, vaccines and novel targeted therapies.
During FY 2013, faculty had 28 active clinical trials and correlative studies. Several of these studies have led to oral and poster presentations by Division faculty at leading national and international meetings (American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, European Hematology Association, and others) and to publication in leading journals in the field.
