Shetal Padia, MD, Assistant Professor in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, was honored by the American Society for Clinical Investigation with a 2013 Young Physician-Scientist Award at the ASCI’s annual meeting in April 2013.

The ASCI is an honor society of physician-scientists who translate findings in the laboratory to the advancement of clinical practice .

Dr. Padia’s research is in the area of obesity and hypertension, in particular the renin-angiotensin system (the hormone system that regulates blood pressure and fl uid balance) and the renal receptors involved in salt and water reabsorption. She is a member of Robert Carey’s lab, and has co-authored two papers with him in the last year:
