CLINICAL HIGHLIGHT:
UVA Primary and Specialty Care Clinic Pantops

UVA PANTOPS PRIMARY CARE CLINIC

New Primary Care & Integrative Medicine Clinic at Pantops opened in April.

Calling it a “bold new venture,” Department of Medicine (DOM) chair Mitchell Rosner, MD, announced the opening of UVA Primary and Specialty Care Clinic at Pantops in April 2015. The new clinic is a joint initiative of DOM, UVA’s Department of Family Medicine, the University Physicians Group primary care practice, and the UVA Health System.

The clinic combines traditional primary care services with treatments and modalities once considered “alternative” but now an accepted part of the repertoire of preventive and integrative medical care. These include nutritional counseling, acupuncture, massage, yoga and stress reduction techniques.

Clinic providers also help patients manage chronic conditions such as heart disease, depression, high blood pressure and diabetes, and provide guidance that help patients navigate major medical events such as surgery, a cancer diagnosis or a heart attack.

Services offered at the new clinic include:

  • Treatment of acute and chronic illness.
  • Health promotion and prevention of illness (high touch).
  • Wellness visits (adults and children).
  • Women’s health, including prenatal care.
  • Assessment and lab tests as needed.
  • Acupuncture.
  • Mindfulness-based stress reduction.
  • Yoga therapy.
  • Nutrition services.
  • Massage.
