Division of Asthma, Allergy & Immunology:
FACULTY RECRUITMENT, RECOGNITION AND SERVICE

LawrenceM[1]

Monica G. Lawrence, MD

Monica G. Lawrence joined the division on July 1st, 2014, as Assistant Professor of Medicine. Prior to joining the Division, Dr. Lawrence trained at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Allergic Inflammation Unit, in the Laboratory of Allergic Diseases, under Joshua Milner, MD. She is currently studying the role of T cell receptors and cytokine signaling in patients with severe atopic disease, immunodysregulation, and primary immunodeficiency disease. Her research interests include patients with hyper IgE syndromes (HIES); gain-of-function mutations in STAT1; severe combined immunodeficiency caused by adenosine deaminase deficiency (ADA-SCID); and GATA3 haploinsufficiency. Her work has contributed to the identification of a novel primary immunodeficiency, IL-21R deficiency, and has helped characterize the immune defects of other patient populations. Dr. Lawrence received her MD from Washington University School of Medicine, and completed her residency at the WU-affiliated Barnes Jewish Hospital.

Anubha Tripathi, MD, also joined the division in 2014, as a clinical instructor. Dr. Tripathi received the Alexander McCausland Allergy Fellowship and trained in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the UVA Department of Medicine’s Asthma and Allergic Diseases Center. She is currently investigating the role of allergic sensitivities among patients with Eosinophilic Esophagitis through skin testing, serum IgE testing (ImmunoCAP), and IgE component testing. She presented this work at the 2014 meetings of the Swineford Allergy Conference and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, both in San Diego; she also presented at the June 2014 meeting of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology in Copenhagen, Denmark.
