Jie Liu now Assistant Research Professor

Jie Liu, PhD, is a researcher and collaborator with Eric Houpt in a study of molecular diagnostics of infection. Liu is working to develop a molecular diagnostic tool to detect enteric pathogens from stool samples. These enteric pathogens cause debilitating bouts of diarrheal illness in children, and are associated with growth impairment. Researchers have determined that malnutrition underlies about half of all the deaths worldwide for children under the age of five.

Dr. Liu was promoted to Assistant Research Professor of Medicine in 2014.
