UVA’s Division of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology, headed by Thomas A.E. Platts-Mills, MD, PhD, treats adult and pediatric patients with asthma, allergic rhinitis and atopic dermatitis as well as immunologic diseases of the respiratory tract and skin.

Division members offer special expertise in asthma, hives, immunodeficiency diseases, respiratory fungal diseases, drug allergy, hay fever and insect venom sensitivity. In addition, there has been a major increase in our involvement with several different forms of food allergy.

Laboratory services provided through our allergy clinics include cutaneous and intradermal skin testing and comprehensive allergen immunotherapy.
