FACULTY RECRUITMENT, RECOGNITION & SERVICE
During FY 2015, Max M. Weder, MD, and Elizabeth Gay, MD, were promoted to associate professor. In addition, division administrator Joe Derrico won a Department of Medicine award for administrative excellence.
New faculty members hired by the Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine in FY 2015:
- Meghan N. Cooper, MD – Began in September 2014
- Eric M. Davis, MD – Hired in September 2014
- Andrew D. Mihalek, MD – Hired in January 2015
- Andrew R. Vranic, MD – Hired in July 2014
Meghan N. Cooper, MD
Dr. Cooper joined the division in 2014 as an assistant professor of medicine. She trained in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, and her primary interests of clinical practice are lung cancer and interventional pulmonary procedures.
Eric M. Davis, MD
Dr. Davis joined the division in 2014 as the new director of the UVA Sleep Disorders Center, succeeding Paul Suratt, MD, who retired after four decades of service. Dr. Davis trained in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, and came to UVA from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a fellow in sleep medicine.
Andrew D. Mihalek, MD
Dr. Mihalek joined the division in 2015 as an assistant professor of medicine. He trained in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Harvard University, and his areas of clinical practice include general pulmonary medicine, pulmonary hypertension and critical care medicine.
Andrew R. Vranic, MD
Dr. Vranic joined the division in 2014 as an assistant professor of medicine. He trained in pulmonary and critical care medicine at UVA; his clinical practice focuses on interstitial lung disease. Dr. Vranic also serves as co-director, with C. Edward Rose Jr., MD, of the pulmonary and critical care fellowship program.
