FACULTY RECRUITMENT, RECOGNITION & SERVICE

“Bringing new therapies to patients is one of the most exciting things we do here at UVA.”

Watch this video about Dr. Ryan Gentzler, MD

New faculty member Ryan Gentzler, MD, received his medical degree from Temple University and completed his internal medicine internship and residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He earned a master’s degree in pharmacology during his residency, with a focus on clinical investigation supported by the NIH K30 program. He completed a hematology/oncology fellowship at Northwestern University, where he served as a chief fellow.

Dr. Gentzler also attended the ASCO/AACR Workshop for Methods in Clinical Cancer Research, where he advanced his knowledge of early phase clinical trial development and wrote a protocol for a Phase I/II investigator-initiated trial for patients with lung cancer.

Gentzler’s research focus is the development of novel therapies for lung cancer, particularly immune-based therapies. He serves as PI on several clinical trials and is working to open additional trials for patients at UVA.
